The Kick off meeting of the Programme BPI Plant-Heal was held on 29 and 30 June, 2009 in the premises of Benaki Phytopathological Institute. Distinguished scientists from the collaborating Centres of Excellence namely Prof. Gatehouse (UNEW), Prof Cambra (IVIA) and Dr Verdin (INRA) presented their Organisations and the research activities of their groups. Scientists from the hosting Institute presented Benaki Phytopathological Institute and its Departmental activities giving an overview of the research carried out by the staff.      On the second day, round tables were organized to discuss activities of the first year such as the organisation of a workshop on quarantine pests and legislation, construction issues of the greenhouse, two-way long / short-term secondments, financial issues etc. Honored guests had the opportunity to meet in person BPI researchers who are going to be trained in the coming three years, abroad.

The integration of scientists was extremely useful and necessary to define the scientific fields for research of common interest. The meeting agenda and the presentations provide an overview of this event.
